At 6AM, I got up and started the coffee before walking down three flights of stairs to take my 8 month-old golden retriever puppy out in the pouring rain. He stood there frozen, staring at me as if I was solely responsible for the ridiculous amount of rain falling from the sky. I assured him I was not, and encouraged him to “get busy” – to no avail.
At 6:35, I again walked down three flights of steps to take my puppy out in the pouring rain. And again he stared at me in confusion, as we risked floating away. Finally giving the illusion of sniffing around a bit, I had a moment of hope, but quickly realized he was simply eating an earthworm. My frustration started to build.
At 7AM, I again walked down three flight of steps to take my puppy out in the pouring rain. This time, he finally relieved himself, rain and all. Arriving back in the apartment, I towel dried the puppy and released him, only to realize that I was 100% stuck – unable to unzip my my dripping wet jacket.
Irritated and desperately craving my now cold coffee, I found myself trapped once again in the space between love and light and a soaking wet jacket. I laughed at myself, at humanity, and the ridiculousness of form. Though I fully understand the dance of Awareness, energy and ego, I am desperately in need of coffee.
